Ayahuasca Retreat at Melissa Wasi

The Ayahuasca retreat will take place at Melissa Wasi in the Sacred Valley of the Incas, in the town of Pisaq, 45 minutes from the city of Cusco, the capital of the Inca Empire. We will stay at Melissa Wasi, a retreat house near the base of the ruins of Pisaq. Pisaq is well known for its Sunday market place and its beautiful, simple people. Each bedroom is double occupancy, private bathrooms with hot water 24 hours a day, and electricity. The view includes the sacred mountains, farm lands and the ruins of Pisaq. A retreat in this powerful sacred valley heightens the effects of the ceremonies. We will be in an environment where we can meditate in peace, surrounded by the natural energy and the right context to relate with these ancestral traditions.

Jacqueline says:
I have waited some time before putting information about Ayahuasca on the website. In no way did I want people who do not know me to get the impression that I use drugs in my work with people or encourage people to use drugs as a path to awakening. As I have said to those who are close to me, I see Ayahuasca first and foremost as a healing plant. It heals the physical body and the emotions and can take people deeply into the heart. It also provides a wonderful opportunity to witness, without indentification, the creations and projections of the mind- something very important for the work I do with the death process as an opportunity for enlightenment. Years ago I had a feeling that a time would come when many people would be getting sick physically and I felt I would know where to send people who needed both physical and emotional healing. When a doctor first introduced me to Ayahuasca I sensed this would be the cure I could put people in touch with. It has taken a few years to find the right shaman and place I wish to take people to. The shaman we will be with is Diego from Melissa Wasi. (See photo) He is fine man who follows the Buddhist teachings and has also visited Arunachala. His work, and the space he has created at Melissa Wasi, is very pure. Someone who was in training with him told me Diego had said that if he had to choose between Ayahuasca and ”the teachings”(i.e. the spiritual wisdom teachings) he would choose the teachings. When I heard this I knew I had chosen the right shaman for the people I work with.

Diego says:
During the retreat, we will have three Ayahuasca ceremonies, integrated in a harmonic process which will include discussion forums about the experience. Each session produces a profound reaction in the body, mind and spirit. Ayahuasca allows the individual to release emotional blockages, confronting and conquering our deepest fears. The opportunity for deep personal growth, reflection and holistic cleansing is invaluable. We combine traditional Amazonian Shamanism with methods such as meditation, Tibetan Philosophy centered on impermanence, breathing, and exercises to increase awareness and to recognize the nature of mind, so as to perceive primordial wisdom within ourselves and the environment as one.
