U.G.KRISHNAMURTI

Many years ago someone in Italy gave me a book to read written by U.G. Krishnamurti (not to be confused with J. Krishnamurti although they did know each other.) As I had recently heard some interesting things about this man I began to read the book at once. I just couldn’t put it down and finished reading it the same day. Then I lay down on the bed to sleep and as I did so there was an explosion of light in my head and I left the physical body. Then I met UG on some other plane of existence – a brief but powerful experience.

At the beginning of 2004, whilst staying at the ashram I have in India, someone suddenly told me that U.G. Krishnamurti was in Chennai – not far from where we were. I was very surprised to hear this. I was also told that he still travelled all over the world alone, carrying his own small suitcase, even though he was already well over 80 years old! By this time I was no longer searching as I had been all those years ago, but I really wanted to meet this man. So I took a taxi to Chennai and finally met him there at someone’s house. When I entered the house UG was just sitting in a room with a small group of people, talking about air tickets and currency rates. I was a little tired so I lay down on a bed in the same room until lunch time. I could feel my heart was singing – what a joy to finally meet him! Then I found out that he also spends a few months in Bangalore each year – a place I visit quite regularly. So it was easy to meet him again and spend time at the house he stayed in with friends who had apparently been with him for years. Many of his friends were highly entertaining. Movie stars and politicians regularly asked for his advice.
